Istanbul: Three people were wounded in a shooting at a restaurant in central Istanbul on Monday, local media reported.
According to the Demiroren news agency, a gunman opened fire on a customer inside the restaurant, triggering a shootout as another individual returned fire. The exchange of gunfire left two people wounded, while a child was injured by shattered glass.
The incident took place in the bustling Mecidiyekoy neighborhood of the Sisli district on the European side of the city.
The assailant remains at large, and a large police presence has been deployed to the scene. A video circulating on social media platform X shows a wounded individual lying on the floor awaiting medical assistance.
An investigation into the incident has been launched, said Demiroren.
