Drug peddler arrested in Handwara, contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from zonal Police headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police team led by SHO Police Station Handwara, during routine patrolling on GMC Handwara Road, intercepted a suspect identified as Abdul Wahid Bhat S/o Ab Khaliq Bhat R/o Turkpora Zachaldara and during search recovered 9.14 grams of a brown sugar-like substance from his possession following which he was arrested.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Handwara besides initiating further investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to contact nearest police establishment by dialing 112 and also appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
