4 persons arrested for illegal extraction, transportation of minerals in Pulwama, G’bal; 4 vehicles, also seized: Police

Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested four persons and seized 4 vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Pulwama, besides 18 vehicles have been seized in Ganderbal in the last two weeks.
In a statement issued from zonal Police headquarters Srinagar police said that in Pulwama, a team led by SHO Police Station Rajpora arrested four suspects for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and seized four vehicles, (1 tipper and 3 dumpers). Police in its statement identified identified the four accused as Bashir Ahmad Mir S/o Ali Mohd R/o Pampore Kadalbal, Shabir Ahmad Rather S/o Ab Rashid R/o Chandhara, Aijaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Gh Nabi R/o Saimoora and Ab Gani Wani S/o Mohd Maqbool R/o Mandikphal Pampore. Stating that cases under FIR No’s. 26/2025 and 27/2025 under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Rajpora besides initiating further investigation Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Ganderbal also, 18 vehicles were seized for being involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals in the last two weeks, adding therein that the vehicles were seized in various areas of Police Stations of the district including Ganderbal, Kheerbawani, Kangan, Lar, Safapora and Police Post Nagbal. Police in its statement further said that this proactive approach to curb illegal mining has been actively taken up by district Police Ganderbal along with the Geology and Mining Department to ensure that the individuals involved in such illegal activities are legally prosecuted.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
