Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has attached properties worth ₹75 lakhs belonging to two drug peddlers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Anantnag.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Police said that while acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act a cement-concreted plinth along with one Kanal of land belonging to Tariq Ahmad Lone S/o Mohd Maqbool Lone R/o Satkipora has been attached, adding therein that the said property, valued at approximately ₹60 lakhs, was identified as illegally acquired through drug trafficking , Stating therein further that the said accused was involved in FIR No. 48/2019 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Srigufwara.
Police in its statement further said that in a separate action, Police Station Bijbehara attached commercial shops belonging to Gulzar Ahmad Rather S/o Gh. Rasool Rather R/o Waghama, adding therein that the attachment was made in connection with FIR No. 227/2024 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Bijbehara. Stating that the property, valued at ₹15 lakhs, was confirmed as proceeds of drug-related activities, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement said that these stringent actions highlight Police’s firm resolve to eliminate the drug menace and dismantle the financial networks supporting illicit drug trade. Police in its statement also appealed people to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any drug-related activities to establish a safer and drug-free society.
