Div Com, IGP Jammu review preparations for Mega IEC campaign against drug abuse

Jammu : Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti on Thursday reviewed the preparations for the UT wide IEC campaign against drug abuse here at a high level meeting.
The meeting was attended by all Deputy Commissioners and SSPs from districts of Jammu Division, Director Social Welfare, Director Information, Director Rural Development, Director School Education and other concerned officials.
The Div Com directed the Deputy Commissioners to finalise the schedules of training by Resource person for the IEC campaign in their respective districts.
Director Information, Nitish Rajora, apprised the Div Com about the sample of IEC material that could be used during the mega campaign.
The Div Com directed for providing the IEC material to the district Administrations for its wide circulation and publicity.
It was informed that the comprehensive Mega IEC campaign against drug abuse will cover every nook and corner of Jammu Kashmir through panchayat level activities. School, and colleges, both private and government, shall be prime venues for the campaign and wide array of activities.
The campaign will include awareness activities, panel discussions with involvement of people from all walks of life, especially the youth.
IGP Bhim Sen Tuti emphasized the crucial role of Police in the campaign against drug abuse. He advised the police officials to disseminate information about legal action liable against those involved in Drug abuse with clarity and sternness. He also called for maintaining a close police-public relation for reporting and detecting such activities.
The Div Com directed the Deputy Commissioners to actively involve media agencies and personnel to spread the message. He also emphasised using Social media tools to reach out to youngsters.
