Bandipora : Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, who is also the District Election Officer (DEO) on Thursday chaired a meeting at the Mini Secretariat here to discuss measures for strengthening coordination between election machinery and political parties.
The meeting was attended by representatives of various political parties like BJP, INC, Samajwadi Party, PDP, JKNPF, JK Apni Party, AIP and other concerned stakeholders.
During the meeting, the participants held detailed discussions on the role of DEO, EROs and BLOs in ensuring smooth conduct of the electoral process.
Speaking during the meeting, the DEO said that as per the directions of Election Commission of India (ECI), meetings with political parties are conducted at both constituency and district levels to review mechanisms related to electoral roll updation and other essential processes.
He urged the party representatives to submit list of booth-level agents, counting agents and other concerned personnel to the respective EROs for proper training on electoral procedures.
The DEO stressed on importance of facilitating the enrolment of all eligible voters in the electoral roll, ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of the election process.
The representatives also shared their feedback and put forth various suggestions, particularly emphasizing the need to enhance public awareness regarding the electoral process, including the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
The Deputy Commissioner assured that all genuine suggestions would be taken up and necessary steps would be implemented to maximize voter awareness, especially in remote areas.
