Mission YUVA: Over 230 Participants Trained to Boost Youth Entrepreneurship in J&K

Srinagar: A three-day technical training program for members of Small Business Development Units (SBDUs) and Business Help Desks (BHDs) under Mission YUVA for Kashmir Division concluded successfully today at Government Polytechnic for Women, Bemina.

The training program, organized by the Labour and Employment Department, witnessed the participation of over 230 members of SBDUs and BHDs from various districts of Kashmir Division.

Mission YUVA aims to create employment opportunities for youth through entrepreneurship, with a target of establishing 1.37 lakh entrepreneurship units and providing employment to 4.25 lakh youth.

To achieve this goal, 20 SBDUs have been established at the district level, and 80 BHDs have been set up at the sub-divisional/regional level. These units will provide comprehensive business support services to nano enterprises and MSMEs.

The training program focused on providing complete insight into Mission YUVA, hands-on training for using the app and portal, and preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for prospective entrepreneurs.

Officers on special Duty (OSD) Dr Murtaza Rashid (JKAS) & Rashid Raina (JKAS) and Expert panels from IIM, J&K Bank, Skill Development Department, NABARD, and other partners covered various topics, including overview of Mission YUVA, institutional business support structure, interactive one stop portal for schemes, credit enablement, capacity building, connectivity, schemes under Mission YUVA, and functioning of SBDUs and BHDs.

Speaking at the valedictory session, Shahzad Alam, (IAS) Mission Director cum Director Employment, J&K, emphasized the significance of Mission YUVA in driving economic transformation through youth empowerment and entrepreneurship development in J&K.

The training program marks a pivotal step towards institutional strengthening of SBDUs and BHDs, ensuring their effectiveness in assisting entrepreneurs and small businesses.
