Intensive Food Safety inspections held in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, a team of Food Safety/ Drug and Food Control Organisation conducted intensive inspections of Industrial units manufacturing bakery items, sweets and confectionery in Srinagar.

The inspection team, led by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar along with Food Safety Officers carried out inspections of manufacturing units of bakery, sweets and confectionery units in Industrial area Khanmouh,  collected surveillance samples to check the quality of food items.

The inspections aimed to ensure that food business operators in Srinagar maintain the quality and standards of food products.

Another team of Food Safety Officers comprising carried out inspection of Children Hospital canteens and JVC market, and lifted about 7 legal samples for analytical purposes and recommended 4 FBOS under sec 69 for penalty.

The inspections will continue in Srinagar to guarantee that food safety standards are met. Consumers can lodge complaints about food quality by calling 104 with substantial evidence.

The Food Safety/ Drug and Food Control Organisation is committed to ensuring that food products in Srinagar are safe for consumption.
