MLA reviews functioning of Health Sector in Rajouri

RAJOURI, MARCH 15: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Rajouri Iftikhar Ahmed today conducted a comprehensive review of the functioning of the Health Department at a meeting held today here in the Conference Hall of PWD Dak Bungalow.
The MLA assessed the status of the healthcare services, including inpatient and outpatient departments (IPD, OPD), major and minor surgeries, institutional deliveries, laboratory tests, ultrasounds, X-rays, ECGs, blood transfusions, CT scans, and cataract surgeries. He took stock of the newly constructed 180-bedded additional building at GMC&AH and directed the Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) to ensure its timely handover to the Health Department. To address the issue of staff shortages, he called for a rationalized deployment of personnel to enhance service delivery.
Emphasizing the significance of voluntary blood donation, the MLA instructed the Health Department to launch mass awareness campaigns and organize blood donation camps in Doongi, Dhangri, Chowdary Nar, and Kotedhera after Ramadan. He also reviewed the functioning of Jan Aushadhi Kendras and directed for proper visibility of available medicines to facilitate patients.
Key infrastructure issues were also discussed, including the handover of newly constructed hostels for resident doctors, installation of public toilets within hospital premises, demarcation of hospital land, and installation of solar street lights.
Later, the MLA chaired a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti, wherein he reviewed the functioning of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and directed officials to take effective measures to enhance healthcare services at the grassroots level.
Commending the Health Department for its prompt response to the Badhaal incident, the MLA reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector. He urged the officials to work with dedication and ensure seamless healthcare services for the people of Rajouri.
The meeting was attended by Principal GMC Rajouri, Amarjeet Singh; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manohar Rana; Medical Superintendent GMC&AH, Dr. Shamim Ahmed; Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Rajouri, Sardar Khan; Block Medical Officers; Heads of Departments, and other concerned staff members.
