However government clarified that project approval is still pending.
Replying to a question asked by MLA Tariq Hameed Karra, Minister In-Charge Jal Shakti Department informed the Legislative Assembly that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) amounting to ₹161.201 crore has been prepared for providing, laying, testing, and commissioning of the Raw Water Main from Preng to Rangil to ensure uninterrupted water supply to Srinagar.
The minister further stated that while the Irrigation and Flood Control Department has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC), the DPR has not yet been approved. The project is currently awaiting necessary clearances from the Forest, Wildlife, Conservation, and Environment Departments.
Regarding the expected timeline, the minister clarified that the project will only commence after funding is secured, and as of now, no specific date can be provided for its approval or execution. (JKNS)
