4 drug peddlers arrested, Contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar in Awantipora a Police team of Police Station Pampore at a checkpoint established at Kadlabal Pampore, intercepted a vehicle (Swift) bearing registration no JK01AU-2964 with three suspects on board and during search recovered 290 grams of Charas like substance and cash ₹97,500 (proceeds of narcotic crime) from their possession. Police in its statement identified the accused as Nazir Ahmad Wani S/o Gh Mohd Wani R/o Sumurbugh New Colony, Mukhtar Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Hassan Mir R/o Dooru Mirmaidan Anantnag and Javid Ahmad Kawa S/o Wali Ahmad Kawa R/o Sumurbugh New Colony , adding therein that the said accused were arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. Police in it statement further said that a case under FIR No 29/ 2025 under relevant sections of NDPS was registered at Police Station Pampore.
Police in its statement further said that in Kupwara also a police party of Police Station Kralpora during routine naka checking at Khazan Mati, Kralpora, intercepted a suspect identified as Muneer Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Sultan Lone, R/O Kralpora and recovered a cannabis-like substance (apparently charas) was recovered from his possession. Stating that a case under FIR No. 11/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kralpora besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society , reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
