Bandipora : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri on Thursday visited the Hajin town to inspect the restoration work on the road that had recently collapsed after developing cracks.
During the visit, the DC assessed the progress of the restoration work, which is being carried out by the Department of Irrigation and Flood Control, to ensure the quick re-establishment of the road.
Emphasizing the urgency and importance of the road, DC urged the concerned departments to complete the repairs at the earliest to minimize any further inconvenience to the local population.
During the visit, Qadri also visited the temporary accommodation facilities provided to the families evacuated after the road collapse.
Pertinent to mention that the families living adjacent to Jehlum near the road collapse site have been temporarily relocated to safer locations until the restoration work is completed.
The DC interacted with the evacuated families, assuring them that every effort is being made to ensure their safety and well-being.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that the Administration is closely monitoring the progress to minimise the impact of the road collapse and ensure the restoration process is carried out efficiently and promptly.
The DC also directed the concerned authorities to continue providing assistance to the evacuated families, ensuring that their basic needs, including shelter, food, and other essentials are being met.
During the visit, the DC was accompanied by ADC Zaffar Husson Shawl, Executive Engineer I&FC Sumbal, SDPO Sumbal and other concerned.
