Jammu : The District Administration Jammu on Monday organized a series of drug awareness programmes across 38 panchayats as part of the three-month Information, Education and Communication campaign launched on February 10, 2025.
Being organised under the supervision of District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya, the programmes included street plays (nukkad nataks), video testimonials, short films and rallies, highlighting the disastrous consequences of drug addiction and preventive measures. The campaign is a collaborative effort involving multiple departments, including Health, Education, Social Welfare and Police, to ensure a comprehensive outreach.
Additional District Magistrate Ansuya Jamwal, the Nodal Officer for the campaign, has highlighted the importance of public participation in tackling substance abuse.
A key feature of the campaign is motivational talks by individuals who have recovered from addiction.
With 305 events scheduled throughout the three-month period, the administration is working towards widespread awareness. Weekly drives are being held at designated locations to engage different sections of society and promote a collective effort against drug abuse.
