Applicants have to apply on Jansugam portal at least one month in advance i.e before the date of marriage. After due scrutinization and verification regarding her eligibility at DSWO level the case is forwarded to Deputy Commissioner, who thereafter refer the case to the Director Finance (Administrative Department) for payment.

However, the figures/details regarding the districts mentioned in the news are not correct and valid as per Jansugam portal. The figures/ details are concocted/ skewed to defame the essence of the scheme in the larger interest.

The said scheme has benefited thousands of poor girls for their marriages. The scheme is universal for the girls belonging to poor families without any target.

The Government is committed to provide financial assistance to all those eligible girls recommended by Deputy Commissioners.

The department has requested to the general public not to pay heed to the details of the news published in Kashmir Uzma on 20th of February 2025.
