Police Organizes Awareness programme on New Criminal Laws in Budgam

Budgam: On the directions of SSP Budgam Nikhil Borkar-IPS, Police in Budgam have organized awareness programme on New Criminal Laws at Foundation World School Mamath Budgam.

The event was chaired by Inspr. Muzammil Ahamd, attended by the Lines officer DPL Budgam, Principal of Foundation World School, School Staff members and social welfare workers of Budgam. Additionally, Bar Association Budgam Members including Shri Arif Shah Secretary Bar Association Budgam also participated in the event.

The speakers in the event explained key aspects of the new criminal laws, highlighting the replacement of the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) respectively. They emphasized that these laws aim to ensure speedy justice for victims and swift punishment for offenders, with specific time frames set for case investigations. The officers also shed light on the provision for registering zero FIRs.

The session was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions, asking questions, and seeking clarifications on the new legal provisions. The new laws also incorporate modern investigation techniques, utilizing technology to enhance the justice system.

Police remains committed to spreading awareness and ensuring that citizens are well-informed about these legal reforms.
