Reasi: The Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Reasi has imposed a ban on mining activities within a 200-meter radius upstream and downstream of all bridges in the district, citing safety concerns.
As per an order issued by Additional district magistrate Reasi a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS reads, Whereas, District Reasi has a potential of minor minerals due to River Chenab and other rivulets; and Whereas, mining activities are closely monitored by “Multi Departmental District Level Task Force Cell” constituted by the Government vide order No. 1569-GAD of 2018 dated 22-10-2018 and Sub committees constituted vide this office order No. 108-DC(Rsi) of 2022 dated 12-09-2022.
Whereas, it has come to the notice of the undersigned that mining is being carried out illegally beyond the demarcated areas of the allotted Blocks and nearby bridges especially during night hours posing threat to the safety of bridges, it reads.
It is felt expedient to impose restrictions on illegal mining activities and also particularly near the bridges in the public interest. Now, therefore, order reads.
In view of above I, Rakesh Kumar, (JKAS), Additional District Magistrate, Reasi in exercise of the powers vested in me under section 163 Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 do hereby impose ban/restrictions on mining activities within the radius of 200 meters upstream and downstream of all the bridges in the District. Since, it is not possible to serve prior notice of this order, it is as such being issued ex-parte, it reads.
Any violation of this order shall invite strict punitive action under section 223 of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi shall implement this order in letter & Spirit, reads the order. (JKNS)
