Doda : District Development Commissioner (DC), Harvinder Singh on Tuesday chaired a comprehensive meeting with officials from the Power Development Department (PDD) and other stakeholders to review the district’s power scenario and assess the progress of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
The meeting, held in his office chamber, focused on promoting awareness about the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and its benefits.
The DC directed PDD officials to launch public awareness campaigns, particularly targeting government employees for scheme registration.
Additionally, he instructed the department to create engaging graphical messages to accelerate the registration process.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed the implementation of the RDSS initiative, directing the concerned officers and stakeholders to ensure the maximum installation of electric poles in required areas and the replacement of damaged electric poles under the scheme.
He also emphasized that all electric pole dumping should be carried out at proper locations and instructed officials to resolve any issues hindering the installation process.
The DC assessed key areas such as expenditure, fund allotments, payments to contractors, and grants from Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), District Development Council (DDC), and Block Development Council (BDC). He directed officials to submit a list of pending bills with the treasury for timely clearance and stressed the importance of resolving project-related bottlenecks to ensure efficient use of allocated funds.
The DC urged stakeholders executing the RDSS initiative to expedite the execution of electric pole installation works across the district. He highlighted the importance of timely execution of both the RDSS and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana to improve power distribution and promote renewable energy solutions in Doda.
Additionally, he instructed the officials to maintain cleanliness at all installation sites and ensure smooth execution without disruptions. The DC emphasized regular progress reporting and inter-departmental coordination to achieve targets effectively.
The meeting, attended by officials from JPDCL, STD Divisions, PGCIL (Doda/Kishtwar), and private contractors such as TKC Vijay Electricals, concluded with DC Harvinder Singh reaffirming the government’s commitment to enhancing power infrastructure and promoting renewable energy in Doda district.
