Police arrests 05 drug peddlers; Large quantity of contraband substances recovered

Srinagar: Continuing its fight against the drug menace, Police arrests five drug peddlers in Srinagar, Kupwara & Anantnag districts, and seized contraband substances from their possession.

A Police team of Srinagar Police at a checkpoint established at General Road Allochibagh Bund near Sacred Mission School, intercepted a suspicious person who after noticing police team tried to flee but was apprehended tactfully. During search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Majid Shafi Najar @ Choota Chaama son of Mohammad Shafi Najar resident of Chan Mohalla Allochibagh Srinagar.

In Kupwara, a Police team from Police Post Drugmulla, at a checkpoint established at FCI Bumhama intercepted two suspicious individuals. During search, 1220 grams of Charas-like substance from their possession. They have been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Ganie son of Khazir Mohammad Ganie resident of Khumriyal and Hakim Din Khatana son of Taj Din Khatana resident of Gagal Katiyawali.

Meanwhile, Police team of Police Station Aishmuqam at a checkpoint established near Budreshan, intercepted two drug peddlers and recovered 07 Kgs of cannabis husk from their possession. They have been identified as Owais Mansoor Bhat son of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat and Gh Mohd Bhat son of Ab Razaq Bhat, both residents of Charakpora Hapatnard.

Regarding the incidents, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

J&K Police remains committed to eradicating the drug menace and ensuring a safe and drug-free society. Public cooperation is essential in this fight, and we urge citizens to report any suspicious activities related to narcotics to the nearest police station.
