NC MLA’s Bill Seeking Liquor Ban a Good Step If Implemented: Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi on wednesday supported introducing a bill in the assembly seeking a ban on liquor saying its implementation would be a good step, as NC MLA Ahsan Pardesi sought a ban on alcohol in J&K.

Talking to reporters in Srinagar, J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, as per news agency JKNS, expressed concern over the growing drug addiction among the youth.

On National Conference (NC) MLA, Ahsan Pardesi submitting a private member bill in the Assembly seeking a ban on alcohol in Jammu and Kashmir, Andrabi said that “If a bill addressing such issues is introduced and if it is implemented, it would be a good step.”

However, she said that “we need to protect young people from drug abuse, stressing that efforts should be made to keep them away from such harmful substances.”

It is important to note that National Conference (NC) MLA, Ahsan Pardesi has submitted a private member bill in the Assembly seeking a ban on alcohol in Kashmir and other Muslim-majority areas of Jammu and Kashmir. (JKNS)
