Poonch: A forest fire triggered landmine blasts in Balakote Poonch area of Jammu division while no injury was reported .

Official sources told news agency JKNS that a forest fire erupted today around 1:00 PM in the Lanjote Balakote area of Poonch, along the Line of Control (LoC) ahead of the security fence in a region under the jurisdiction of the Indian Army.

The blaze led to the detonation of approximately three to four landmines, they said.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far. Further details are awaited as the situation develops, they added.

Notably, this incident is reminiscent of a similar occurrence last week when a forest fire in the Behrooti forest of the Mendhar sector resulted in the explosion of several landmines.—(JKNS)
