Govt’s priority is to upgrade existing resources, facilities; transform JK’s healthcare: Sakeena Itoo

JAMMU: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, today remarked that government’s priority is to upgrade existing resources and facilities in the health sector in order to transform the healthcare landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister made these remarks while speaking at the ‘Badalta Jammu and Kashmir Conclave” organised by Gulistan News Network here.
Speaking during the Conclave, Sakeena Itoo said that Jammu & Kashmir is making significant strides under the leadership of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. She added that the present government has appointed around 300 new doctors and posted them in remote areas to take care of healthcare needs of people living in far off areas.
The Minister acknowledged the shortage of doctors and paramedical staff in the health department but assured the people that the government is committed to address all these issues promptly. She added that government has already started the process of having dialysis facilities in all sub-district hospitals for the facilitation of general public. She further said that Cath Labs have been made functional in Jammu as well as Kashmir besides Linac facilities will be shortly available here.
Highlighting different interventions being made by the present government for public welfare, Sakeena Itoo said that the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, is personally monitoring the progress in each department and taking regular reviews regarding implementation of various interventions being made for public good.
