Srinagar: A forest fire erupted in the compartment 35 near the water supply scheme at Watlab, Sopore on Tuesday evening.

An official told news agency JKNS that forest fire has been reported in compartment 35 near the water supply scheme at Watlab, Sopore.

Forest staff, Forest Protection Force (FPF) personnel, Fire and Emergency Services officials, and locals from Kenusa and Rampora are working tirelessly to douse the flames, they said.

Adding, the cause of the fire remains unknown, and efforts are ongoing to prevent it from spreading to nearby areas.

All measures are being taken to minimize damage to the forested area, Further details will emerge as soon fire is controlled, officials added. (JKNS)
