Srinagar: The tall claims of Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) regarding availability of textbooks have fallen flat as parents and teachers continue to be in chaos and confusion citing non availability of JKBOSE textbooks.

The Board chairman has come under criticism for his statement to JKNS, that he has recieved loaded trucks of textbooksin Kashmir worth crores.

Complaints are pouring from all the districts regarding the non availability of textbooks.

A parent namely Syed Inam told news agency JKNS that his wards are studying in 9th and 10th grade. However he said textbooks are not available anywhere. “I checked in Kupwara, I went to the leading book Depot KBD in Srinagar and found books are not available. I was told to wait for the next one week,” he said.

A teacher from Government High School Kulgam said that textbooks were not been provided yet. “We have been advised to wait for another week,” the teacher said.

Mir Muzzafar, a parent from Budgam, expressed concern that children were left idle. “Although it is vacation time, students should have been given books to stay on track with their studies. Sadly, the books are unavailable,” he said.

A teacher from a primary school in Budgam shared that he did not receive textbooks from the Board. “Despite multiple requests, we are only being told to wait. It seems the books might arrive by the end of February when schools reopen after the winter break,” the teacher said, requesting anonymity.

Muneeb Nazeer, another parent from Kulgam, highlighted the unavailability of textbooks. “It has already been a month, and children need books to study properly during the break. I fail to understand why JKBOSE didn’t stock books before exams,” he said.

Earlier, Chairman JKBOSE rebutted education minister’s statement on non availability of books saying board has distributed books worth crores and loaded trucks reach srinagar every day.

He claimed that distribution of textbooks was going on smoothly.

He further dismissed allegations of shortage of textbooks. “The board is always here to serve our children. Every day, loaded trucks carrying textbooks reach Srinagar. There is no shortage,” he said.

He said for the past one week, textbooks worth approximately Rs. 3 crore have been distributed, including Rs. 15 lakhs on a single day. (JKNS)
