Slight Dip in Temperatures Across plains of J&K; Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam continue to freeze

Srinagar: A slight dip in minimum temperatures was recorded on friday across Jammu and Kashmir, with Drass experiencing the coldest at -22.9°C, while tourist resorts continue to freeze across Kashmir.

However, MET has predicted Dry and cloudy weather till 19th January with chances of light snow in higher reaches.

A meteorological department official told news agency JKNS that, Srinagar recorded a low of -2.0°C today, while Qazigund registered -2.4°C. Pahalgam witnessed one of the coldest nights with -11.8°C, and Kupwara recorded -2.7°C. Kokernag also saw chilly weather with a minimum of -2.4°C. Gulmarg recorded -7.0°C, while Sonamarg plunged to -12.8°C.

Bandipora experienced -3.4°C, Baramulla recorded -0.2°C, and Budgam stood at -1.0°C. Ganderbal saw temperatures drop to -3.4°C, and Pulwama recorded -2.3°C. Khudwani registered -2.5°C, Kulgam -3.2°C, and Shopian -4.1°C. Larnoo was significantly colder at -7.9°C, official said.

Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 5.2°C, while Banihal saw temperatures drop to -1.2°C. Batote recorded -0.3°C, Katra 5.3°C, and Bhaderwah -4.0°C. Kishtwar experienced -0.2°C, and Padder saw a chilly -8.8°C. Ramban recorded 4.0°C, while Poonch registered 1.4°C.

Rajouri recorded a low of -0.2°C, Samba registered 1.3°C, Kathua and Reasi both recorded 3.9°C, while Udhampur saw 1.3°C.

Leh recorded a freezing -13.0°C, Kargil dropped to -13.8°C, while Drass experienced the coldest temperature at -22.9°C, official added.

Weatherman has predicted dry and cloudy weather till 19th Jan, however saying that light snow at isolated higher reaches can’t be ruled out, he said. (JKNS)
