Traffic on Gurez-Bandipora road suspended amid Snowfall

Bandipora: Several parts of Kashmir are receiving snowfall early morning on thursday. However,snowfall in Gurez has led to the suspension of movement on the Gurez-Bandipora road, officials said.

An official told news agency JKNS that snowfall began early this morning in Gurez and nearby areas. As the intensity increased, the authorities decided to close the Gurez-Bandipora road to ensure the safety of travelers.

“Movement on the Gurez-Bandipora road shall remain suspended till further orders,” the official said, adding that snow clearance operations will commence as soon as the weather permits.

Meanwhile, other higher reaches of Kashmir including Achabal Annatnag are also experiencing light to moderate snowfall. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas.

The meteorological department has forecasted snowfall in higher reaches of Kashmir, with the possibility of rain in some lower areas over the next 24 hours. (JKNS)
