Shopian: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar on Tuesday reviewed the progress of key development projects in the district, including Mughal Road, Tourism, Municipal Council (MC), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), RDSS, PM Surya Ghar, sports development initiatives and others.
The review aimed to assess the current status and identify areas for improvement.
During the review, the DC emphasized the need for new flagship projects to enhance the district’s infrastructure and promote development.
He directed R&B to submit Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for new flagship projects to be taken up in the district especially establishing eco friendly facilities at Dobjan and Pir ki Gali for commuters & tourists, municipal services for town residents, sports development projects of YS&S and Sports Council among others. Shahid Saleem also reviewed the physical & financial progress of ongoing MC Projects, Sports Council works, JJM Works of water supply, RDSS infrastructure development in power sector, registration and installation of PM Surya Ghar, etc.
The DC laid focus on sports development, given the district’s potential for growth in this sector. He instructed the YS&S Department to organise the Sports competitions for youth engagement.
While speaking during the series of meetings held on Tuesday, the DC emphasised upon streamlining the planning and execution process, ensuring that initiatives are well-planned, efficient, and effective in addressing the district’s needs.
The meeting was attended by ACR, CPO, DIO, Ex. Engineer R&B divisions, Jal Shakti, CEO MC, AEEs KPDCL, Officers of YS&S, J&K Sports Council among others.
