DC Poonch conducts extensive tour of villages near LoC, engages with residents, address public grievances

Poonch : In a proactive initiative to foster holistic development in the border areas, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Vikas Kundal on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of villages located near the Line of Control (LoC). The tour focused on assessing the progress of various development projects designed to enhance the socio-economic conditions of the region.
During the visit, DDC Kundal inspected several key projects in Jhulas, including the new building of Higher Secondary School, Government Girls Middle School, NTPC, and Khidmat Centre. He issued specific directives to expedite the execution of ongoing projects and emphasized the importance of timely completion.
At Salothri, the last village at the Zero Line of the LoC, DDC Vikas Kundal engaged with a large number of local residents who projected various demands and developmental requirements. They sought upgradation of water and power schemes, roads, and other infrastructure projects, all discussed in the presence of district officers from multiple departments. On-the-spot directions were issued to executing officers for prompt redress and action.
The DDC also visited Government Higher Secondary School Jhulas, Government Girls Middle School Jhulas, and Primary School Kunuyian. He interacted with teachers and students, urging the staff to work with dedication and punctuality. Additionally, he approved the construction of a footpath for the Government Girls Middle School Jhulas during the inspection.
While reviewing health infrastructure in these border villages, DDC Vikas Kundal checked the attendance of health staff and patient care routines, ensuring that healthcare services meet the needs of the community.
Later, he inspected the progress of work on the water supply scheme at Kanuyian Poonch under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and the Ayushman Arogya Mandir SC Kanuyian Poonch. The DDC instructed concerned officers to prioritize the timely and high-quality completion of ongoing development projects.
In a significant highlight of the tour, DDC Kundal inaugurated a newly constructed house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Grameen (PMAY-G), handing over the keys to the owner Mohammad Ayoub Khan. The beneficiary expressed heartfelt gratitude for the initiative, which has greatly improved their living conditions.
The extensive visit underscores the administration’s commitment towards addressing civic issues, expediting developmental works and enhancing the overall infrastructure and living standards of local residents.
Chief Planning Officer, Xen PDD, Xen Jal Shakti Poonch, Xen PWD, and other district and sectoral officers accompanied the DDC during the tour.
