2200 litres of illicit kerosene & diesel seized in Shopian, accused arrested: Police

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has recovered illicit kerosene and diesel in the jurisdiction of Police Station Keller and also arrested the accused involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about selling of kerosene oil in black market at Karlcheck Berthipora area of Shopian a police party headed by SHO Police Station Keller and Incharge Berthipora along with Executive Magistrate conducted search in the shop of one Showkat Ahmad Hajam S/o Ab Gani Hajam R/o Karlcheck Berthipora and during search recovered 11 barrels containing 1600 ltrs of kerosene oil and 600 ltrs of diesel from the said shop. Police in its statement further said that the said accused involved in the commission of crime has been arrested.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 02/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Keller besides initiating further investigation, Police in its statement further said”preliminary investigation reveals that the accused was selling the Kerosene oil illegally in black market”
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activitiy or illegal practice they come across, assuring therein that Such information can be crucial in curbing criminal activities and maintaining a safe and secure environment for all.
