Dir Archives visits conservation sites in Srinagar

Srinagar : With an aim to have first-hand account of the preservation and conservation works being executed by the Department of Archives, Archeology and Museums, J&K, Director, Archives, Archeology and Museum, J&K, Kuldeep Krishan Sidha Thursday conducted the inspection of works in Safa Kadal and Habba Kadal areas of District Srinagar.
The Director inspected the ongoing and improvement of works viz. Thagbab Sahib Shrine Safakadal, Ram Mandir Safakadal, Khankahi Sokhta of District Srinagar.
On spot directions were issued to the Engineers of R&B Department and Deputy Director, Archives, Archeology & Museums, Kashmir to ensure transparent monitoring of the works being executed by the Department.
The local residents while appreciating the effort and steps being taken by the Department of Archives, Archeology and Museums also emphasized upon restoring them to their original glory.
Director, AA&M, J&K cautioned the field officers as well as the executing agencies to remain cautious with their approach and conduct as there shall be no compromise on maintenance of financial discipline and the objective of the Department.
The Director further said that he shall be personally visiting all the districts and inspecting the work sites besides the level of preservation and conservation of ancient monuments/ heritage sites in the Districts.
Further, the Director, AA&M, J&K visited the Anandishwar Bhairownath Astapan Trust at Maisuma Srinagar and took the need assessment with consultation of the local trustees & other stakeholders. He advised I/c Deputy Director, Archives, Archeology & Museums, Kashmir that the site be incorporated under the “Scheme of Revival, Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Architecture & Heritage in J&K” under Phase-III.
The Director was accompanied by Engineers of R&B Department, Deputy Director, Archives, Archeology & Museums, Kashmir & other officials of the Department.
