Baramulla: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa Saturday convened a meeting to discuss key projects under the DhartiAabaJanjatya Gram UtkarshAbhiyan (DA-JUGA), aimed at the holistic development of tribal areas in the district.
The projects discussed during the meeting focused on enhancing infrastructure and providing better living conditions for students and tribal communities in the district.
Key initiatives include the construction of a 50-bedded Tribal Hostel at Government Degree College Baramulla, which will provide comfortable accommodation for students, complete with bathroom facilities and a common kitchen. Additionally, the upgradation of existing girls’ and boys’ hostels at Rangwar and Khojabag was highlighted to improve the living standards for students.
A major emphasis was placed on the renovation and repair of Tribal Hostels and KGBVs across Baramulla, ensuring the accommodation of tribal students is significantly enhanced. The establishment of a post-graduate hostel at the North Campus of Baramulla is another vital project aimed at supporting higher education students in the region.
Furthermore, the development of a Tribal Multi-Purpose Marketing Centre at Uri, Rafiabad, and Tangmarg was discussed, which will serve as a platform for promoting and selling local tribal products, thereby boosting economic activity in the region.
The DDC stressed the importance of these projects in promoting the well-being and growth of tribal communities, and expressed his confidence that with the collaborative efforts of all involved, these initiatives will significantly improve infrastructure and quality of life in the district.
The meeting was attended by Principal Government Medical College Baramulla (Prof) Dr.Majid Jahangir; Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, SA.Raina; Superintending Engineer R&B, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agricultural Officer and other senior officers from various departments.
