Srinagar: A meeting of the District Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, here.
At the outset, the DC took a detailed review about the functioning of the Cooperative Department in the District.
On the occasion, the DC was apprised by the Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, about the progress and achievements made so far by the Cooperative Department. She informed that out of 21 Panchayats in District Srinagar, 19 have been covered under the ambit of the Cooperatives as per laid guidelines and 2 are under process.
Dr Bilal asked for recommendations and feedback from other allied Departments to further strengthen the Cooperative sector. He assured cooperation and every possible support to the Department for its better functioning.
Apart from reviewing the progress and development in the cooperative sector of the district, the committee deliberated on the Food Processing Unit initiative and approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Food Processing Unit (FPU) to be established by Greenfield Agro Spices and Processing Cooperative ltd. for ‘Spices Processing and Packaging’ and Paradise Multipurpose FPO Cooperative ltd. for ‘Pickles and Chutney processing.’
Among others, the meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Additional MD, State Co-operative and other members of the Committee.
