Srinagar: The Minister for Road and Transport (GoI) has addressed the concerns raised by Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on August 7, 2024, regarding the ongoing demands and issues related to the Srinagar Ring Road.
In a detailed response, a copy of which is accessed by the news agency JKNS, the Minister of GoI, Nitin Gadkari informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Srinagar Ring Road Phase-III is currently under preparation.
It reads as follows: the alignment options have been discussed with the Union Territory administration, and the project is expected to be included under the NH (O) scheme based on the DPR’s outcome.
“Regarding the Patwa Road Budgam access point at Ch. 22.321, the Minister noted that an underpass without a slip road has been provisioned in the Comprehensive Agreement (CA). However, feasibility studies are ongoing to evaluate the possibility of constructing an access point connecting the crossroad to the Ring Road at the same location, considering the availability of the right-of-way and utility shifting needs,” it reads.
Similarly, the response also noted that underpasses and overpasses have already been constructed or are under development at key locations, as suggested by Mehdi: Ch. 24.880, Waterwani, Budgam (completed up to substructure); Ch. 26.330, Waterwani, Budgam (completed up to substructure); Ch. 13.650, Lalgam, Panzan (completed up to substructure).
Additionally, a box culvert and footpath are under construction at Ch. 13.910, Lalgam, Panzan.
“On the issue of compensation disparity, the Minister assured that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is working with CALA cum District Collectors to ensure timely disbursement of pending compensation amounts,” the details read further.—(JKNS)
