City Municipal Commissioner Srinagar holds meeting with Civil Society stakeholders to address Air Pollution

Srinagar : In a significant step towards combating air pollution, Commissioner SMC, Dr. Owais Ahmed convened a comprehensive meeting with Civil Society stakeholders on Tuesday to discuss ongoing and future measures under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).
During the meeting, Commissioner SMC emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling the city’s air pollution challenges. He provided a detailed overview of the current initiatives under NCAP and sought valuable feedback from civil society stakeholders.
Dr. Owais highlighted the need for innovative, community-driven solutions and urged stakeholders to actively participate in the formulation of actionable plans to improve air quality.
Discussions centered around key areas such as vehicular emissions, Dust control, Waste Management, and increasing green cover in urban areas.
Dr. Owais reaffirmed SMC’s commitment to creating a cleaner and healthier Srinagar. He assured that the insights and suggestions from this meeting would play a pivotal role in shaping future strategies under NCAP.
The meeting concluded with a collective pledge to intensify efforts towards achieving sustainable urban development and ensuring a pollution-free environment for the citizens of Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by the Regional Director of the Pollution Control Board Kashmir, SP Headquarters Srinagar, Joint Commissioner (Adm) SMC, Joint Commissioner (Works) SMC, Superintendent Engineers (North/South) R&B, FA/CAO SMC, DFO Urban Forestry/Social Forestry Division, DFO SMC, and Executive Engineers from various SMC divisions.
Senior officers from the Agricultural and Horticulture Departments and prominent members of civil society also contributed to the deliberations.
