Police arrest two drug peddlers with brown sugar in Srinagar

Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar and recovered brown sugar from their possession.

Police on Tuesday said that during checking at 90 Feet Road near Matoo Steel, two vehicles- a Scooty and a car, coming simultaneously from Awantabawan and moving towards Elahibagh, were intercepted.

During the search of the vehicle, 10 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from the driver of the car, who has been identified as Shabir Ahmed Mir a resident of Bilal Colony Soura.

Similarly, during the search of the Scooty rider, 6 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession.

The accused rider has been identified as Shah Murtaza Iqbal a resident of Bilal Colony Soura.

Both accused persons were arrested and vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized.

“During questioning, it came to fore that these accused individuals are chronic drug peddlers and have been actively involved in peddling of illegal drugs among the youth of Srinagar district, especially the youth of Soura area”, police said.

Police have registered a case vide FIR No. 90/2024 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Soura and further investigation is underway.
