Govt ready to discuss every issue: Rijiju

New Delhi: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday said that the government is ready to discuss every topic, but the discussion should be held in a peaceful manner so that it can be beneficial.

In the meeting called ahead of the winter session of Parliament starting from Monday, the opposition has demanded discussions on issues like corruption charges against industrialist Gautam Adani, violence in Manipur, pollution in North India and increase in railway accidents and unemployment issues in the country.

Rijiju after the all-party meeting while talking to the media said that the meeting was productive, and leaders of political parties have given good suggestions.

“We had a productive all party meeting today. All political party leaders have given good suggestions and have also put some demands. We took note of all the points put up by the floor leaders. Forty two leaders from 30 political parties attended the meeting.”

“The suggestions that were given by the floor leaders, will be sent to the Business Advisory Committee and after consent of the Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman it will be decided which issues will be taken up for discussion,” Rijiju said.

“There are many issues, and we want that there should be discussions also and the government is always ready. We appeal to all the leaders for the smooth functioning of the House and there should not be any disruption,” he said.

The Union Minister said, “The Union Minister said, “The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) report on the Waqf Bill is yet to come and it has to be tabled in the House. If necessary, permission will have to be taken to extend the time.”

With regards to the celebration of the Constitution Day, Rijiju said, “We will celebrate the Constitution Day in a grand manner. Since 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the celebration of Constitution Day and this year we will complete 75 years. This celebration will not be for one day but will go on throughout the year from November 26”.

The Winter Session of Parliament will run from November 25 to December 20 in which 16 bills are likely to be discussed.

The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha JP Nadda, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal, L Murugan and leaders of various parties in the House.

Moreover, Kiren Rijiju on his social media handle X said, “Had a productive All-Party Meeting ahead of the Winter Session. Honble Defence Minister Shri @rajnathsingh ji, Leader of the House (Rajya Sabha) Shri @JPNadda ji, MoS @arjunrammeghwal ji, @Murugan_MoS ji & the floor leaders of all parties attended.”

Meanwhile, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari told reporters that the party has put several issues including increase in train accidents, terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, the Adani scam, Manipur violence, unemployment issue in the country and pollution across north India.
