DC Shopian visits Aglar Fruit Mandi at Shopian

Srinagar: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today visited Aglar Fruit Mandi at Shopian in order to take firsthand appraisal of requirements of various developmental initiatives along with welfare measures for traders, transporters and growers.

The DDC was apprised by President Growers & Traders Association about the need for infrastructure upgradation in the Mandi including Protection Wall, Community Halls( Sarai) for accommodation, construction of drainage,etc.

AMO,HM&P Department apprised that his office has taken up the upgradation works with the department for sanction and release of funds.

The DDC on the occasion,keeping in view the importance of the fruit trade for the economic vibrancy of the district called for expediting the process of upgradation for the larger benefit of people associated with the trade.

He interacted with the traders and assured that the resolution of development works and welfare measures.

In view of the urgent need of the Community Hall ( Sarai) for accommodation of stakeholders in the Mandi, District Administration in collaboration with Department of HM&P and Traders Federation shall construct a Sarai for the drivers, growers who wish to stay at the place.

The DDC expressed remorse on the death of Mohammad Rafiq,Driver who died in the mandi some days before and announced the cash relief of Rs 20000 from the district administration in favour of his wife and children. Truck Transport Association has also provided a relief of Rs 50,000.

The DDC was accompanied by ADC Dr Zakir Hussain Faaz, ACR Shakoor Ahmad Dar,DIO, Showkat Hussain Ganie,AMO,Mushtaq Ahmad and other concerned officials.
