7 accused arrested for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in Sopore, 7 vehicles also seized: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested seven persons for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Sopore, besides seizing two JCBs and five tippers from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Bomai headed by SHO Police Station Bomai initiated the action under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir and seized seven vehicles (2 JCBs and 5 tippers) besides arresting seven drivers for being invoved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals . Police in its statement identified seven drivers arrested by it as Aabid Manzoor Khan S/o Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Muzafar Ahmad Lone S/o Mohammad Sultan Lone, Abdul Rashid Lone S/o Mohammad Sultan Lone, Shafaq Ahmad Lone S/o Abdul Rahim Lone, Aijaz Ahmad TantrayS/o Abdul HameedTantray all residents of TujjerSharief, Ishfaq Ahmad Mir S/o Mohammad Abdullah Mir R/o Hardu Shiva and Sheikh ImadS/o Abdul Majeed Sheikh R/o Seeloo .
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Bomai besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
