Srinagar: At least a dozen residential houses were gutted in a devastating fire incident at Rainawari in Srinagar area on Tuesday, officials said.

Fire and Emergency officials said that the fire broke out at 4 pm in a house at Abi Gurpora Naidyar and spread to other nearby houses causing extensive damage to at least 12 residential houses.

Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot to extinguish the leaping flames. However, eye witnesses said the fire fighters had a tough time as several gas cylinders exploded during the fire.

No one was injured in the incident, they said and added the cause of the fire is being ascertained.
