Srinagar: An earthquake of moderate intensity jolted Kashmir valley on Wednesday, officials said.

The magnitude of the earthquake was measured on the Richter scale 5.2 with the epicenter at latitude 36.38 in the north and longitude 71.75 in the east.

The tremors were felt in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir valley for a few seconds.

The tremors were felt at 10.43 am with the 192km depth northeast of Hindu Kush region Afghanistan.

People at some places came out of their houses in panic for safety.

There was no report of loss of life or damage to property.
