Moscow: Russian and Indonesian ships conducted joint exercises in the Java Sea to free a vessel captured by “terrorists” and counter unmanned boats, the Pacific Fleet said on Monday.
“The first joint naval exercise of the Russian and Indonesian Navy ships, Orruda-2024, took place in the Java Sea,” the statement said.
It is noted that on the first day, the crews of the joint detachment of ships conducted maneuvering and communications training, and also practiced inspecting suspicious vessels, blocking and freeing a vessel that had been identified as being seized by “terrorists.”
On the second day of the exercise, training was conducted to counter unmanned boats with firing from automatic artillery mounts and small arms, as well as training in rescue at sea. Deck helicopters were used to practice joint tasks.
The Russian side was represented by corvettes Gromkiy, Rezky, Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov and support ship Pechenga, while the Indonesian side was represented by frigate I Gusti Ngurah Rai and corvette Franz Kaisiepo.
