Tehsil legal services Committee Karnah celebrated National Legal Services Day

Karnah// Tehsil Legal Services Committee Karnah (Tangdhar) celebrated National Legal Services Day on November 9th, 2024, at Govt. Boys High School Tangdhar under the theme “significance of legal aid and access to justice for marginalized communities “ at in collaboration with Govt. Boys High School Tangdhar, which was held Under the esteemed guidance of Ms. Shazia Tabasum, Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority and Principal District & Sessions Judge Kupwara, and under the supervision of Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Mir, Munsiff-/Chairman Teshil Legal Service Committee Tanghdar. The programme resonated with a powerful message of empowerment and inclusivity.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Adv. Abdul Majid Banday Secretary Bar Association Karnah, who elaborated the concept of legal aid, historical background of Legal Service Authority Act 1987 and also discussed the role of Legal aid clinics, Panel Lawyers and PLV’s in reaching out the marginalized sections of society.

Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Mir, the Chief Guest, Munsiff /Chairman TSLC Karnah, delivered an impactful address, emphasizing the critical role of legal services in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of all citizens. He also highlighted the Constitutional Provisions vis-à-vis free legal aid and the role of Legal aid clinics and community Support.

Mr. Adv. Jameel Ahmad Magray, Panel Lawyer TLSC Karnah (resource person) highlighted the vital role of legal aid in promoting social justice and ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has access to legal representation. He also discussed the role of educational institution in forwarding the message to the targeted beneficiaries.

Mr. Adv. Imtiyaz Rashid Bhat, Panel Lawyer, TLSC Karnah (resource person) highlighted the significance of Legal Service Authority Act 1987 and shed light on the eligibility criteria for accessing free legal aid services.

Mr. Mehboob Allahi President Bar Association Karnah discussed the importance of Legal Awareness programs in reaching out the beneficiaries and Mr. Abdul Rashid Lone member civil society Karanh highlighted the importance of Free legal aid services and the need for involvement civil society for successful efforts in reaching outthe marginalized communities.

Mrs. Nasreen Aarif, Principal of Govt. Boys High School Tangdhar, also underscored the critical role of legal aid in fostering a society where justice prevails. She His address emphasized the importance of educating future generations about their legal rights and responsibilities.

The program was attended by Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Mir, Munsiff /Chairman TSLC Karnah, Mr. Mehboob Allahi, President Bar Association Karnah. Mrs. Nasreen Aarif , Govt. Boys High School Tangdhar, Mr. Khalid Mirchal, Sr. Prosecuting officer/ APP JMIC Tanghdar, Mr. Abdul Rashid Lone member civil society Karnah and active participation from members of Bar Association, Teachers, students, staff members of School, officials of TLSC, Panel Lawyers and para-legal volunteers, showcasing their enthusiasm and commitment to promoting legal awareness and to reaffirm the importance of accessible legal aid and justice for all.

The National Legal Services Day celebration aimed to raise awareness about the significance of legal aid and its accessibility for everyone. The program served as a powerful reminder of the vital role legal services play in protecting individual rights and fostering a just society.
