The abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 marked a significant shift in the region’s political landscape, integrating it more directly with the rest of India. This change aimed to promote greater political participation and representation, allowing for local governance structures that empower citizens. The establishment of the District Development Councils has encouraged democratic process. Infrastructure development has been a cornerstone of progress in Kashmir. The government has invested heavily in enhancing roads, electricity and telecommunications. Projects such as the Zojila tunnel and improved connectivity through highways have made remote areas more accessible, facilitating trade and mobility.
Efforts are underway to improve air travel, with upgrades to the Sheikh Ul-Alam International Airport and proposals for a rail link between Jammu and Srinagar. Kashmir is endowed with substantial hydropower potential. Investments in hydroelectric projects are aimed at harnessing this resource to provide reliable electricity to the region. The establishment of new colleges and vocational training centers aims to equip the youth with skills relevant to the job market. Digital initiatives, such as online learning platforms, have expanded access to education, particularly in remote areas. One of the most notable positive changes in Kashmir is the focus on economic development. The region has seen increased investments in infrastructure, including roads, telecommunications, and energy projects.

By building on these developments, the region will move towards a more prosperous and stable future. It is crucial for all stakeholder’s government, civil society, and local communities to collaborate in this journey, ensuring that the aspirations of the awam of Kashmir are met with tangible & lasting outcomes.
