In a major breakthrough against the drug menace, Anantnag Police attached a single-storied residential house worth ₹70 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh. Rasool Sheikh, resident of Gopalpora Kalan. The action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district.

The Property attachment is linked to FIR No. 86/2023, registered under Sections 8/20/29 of the NDPS Act, following investigations that established its use in drug trafficking activities.

Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh is a habitual offender with a history of involvement in multiple narcotics cases. This action underscores Anantnag Police’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and ensuring that those involved in such crimes face the full force of the law.

Anantnag Police remains steadfast in its mission to combat drug abuse and trafficking, working tirelessly to safeguard the youth and protect the community from the harmful impact of narcotics. Further investigations are underway to trace other associates linked to the accused.
