ONE-DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME ON FIRST AID

One-day training programme on First Aid was organized by the NSS Units, Health Care Committee, and Department of Physical Education Government Degree College for Women Pulwama, in collaboration with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Pulwama on 24th October, 2024. The event aimed to educate college students on the importance of First Aid and equip them with the necessary skills to respond to medical emergencies.

The programme commenced with a Presidential Address delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Huda Galzai, Principal of the College. In her address, Dr. Galzai emphasized the significance of First Aid knowledge in today’s world, particularly for young women, and appreciated the collaborative effort of the college and SDRF in organizing such an important event for the students.

The Welcome Address was given by Prof. Khalida Hassan, Head of the Department of Zoology and convenor Health Aid Committee. Prof. Khalida highlighted the crucial role that First Aid plays in saving lives and its relevance in both personal and professional settings.

A special lecture was delivered by Mr. GulamNabi, an instructor from the SDRF, Pulwama. Mr.GulamNabi’s lecture covered various aspects of First Aid, including how to manage common injuries, provide CPR, and handle critical situations before medical help arrives. His demonstration of practical First Aid techniques was well-received and greatly appreciated by the students and faculty alike. Live demonstration of combating with various emergency situations in case of fire, earth quake or any other disaster was also displaced on the occasion.

The programme was moderated by Prof. Syed Kauser Andrabi, NSS Programme officer, who ensured the smooth flow of the event and engaged the participants in interactive discussions on First Aid practices.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks presented by Prof. Suraya Shafi, Head department of Commerce, expressing gratitude to the SDRF team, faculty members, and students for their active participation, and commended the efforts of the organizers for making the event a success. Dr. Fahim Ul Hassan (NSS P.O.), Mr. Zaffar Manzoor (Convener Sports) and Dr. Umer Jan Sofi (Health Care Committee) coordinated the entire program.

The programme was a valuable experience for the students, providing them with essential First Aid knowledge and skills that could help them act as first responders in case of emergencies.
