Kupwara 13 Oct 24* : In an endeavour and to continue its efforts in promoting culture of sports and to provide a plateform to the youth of Kupwara, Indian Army’s Kupwara Terriers with the help of local cricket body conducted Inaugural match of Manwan Premier League at Awoora Kupwara on 13 Oct 24.

 

This league will be played at Awoora Manwan in which a total 24 teams from Awoora, and nearby villages are participating. The inaugural match was played today at Manwan cricket ground between _Friends Eleven Awoora and Sufian Eleven Manwan which was won by Friends Eleven Awoora by 55 runs. Man of the match award was given to Suhail Mur of Friends Eleven Awoora for his brilliant performances with the bat as he scored match winning runs for his team.

 

The event was organised by Mr Showkat Ahmad Khan from Awoora assisted and supported by Indian Army’s Kupwara Terriers. This inaugural match was witnessed by CO Kupwara Terriers along with the Sarpanches, ward members and about 120 locals & Children from Awoora and adjacent villages.

 

Besides the inauguration of Manwan Premiers Cricket League a certification drive was also conducted at the occasion by the chief guest for those students who have completed 6 months basic computer course at Peer Computer Institute Awoora run by Indian Army. A total of 16 students were awarded with the diploma certificates by CO , Kupwara Terriers on the occasion. This is the fourth batch of students who have completed their six months computer course at this computer Institute. This computer institute was started by Indian Army’s Kupwara Terriers in year 2022 to provide quality digital education to the poor local students of this remote area. A total of 220 financially weak students have been awarded with diploma certificates after completion of their course at this institute.

 

At last Cricketers and organizers thanked Indian Army’s Kupwara Terriers for supporting and assisting in conduct of the event.

 

Indian Army, Kupwara Terriers, remains in forefront of encouraging such events to boost a culture of sports in Kupwara.
