‘There are immense opportunities in the field of translation’ said Dr. Yashpaul Nirmal, Assistant Editor, Official Languages, Jammu and Kashmir Government, while speaking in a special online lecture on the topic ‘Importance of Hindi Translation and Employment Opportunities’ on the occasion of Hindi Fortnight organised by Shivaji University’s Distance Learning Institute and Online Education Centre and Placement Cell.
This important program was presided over by the Honourable Register of Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Dr. V.N. Shinde. Honorable Dr. Yashpaul Nirmal was invited as the keynote speaker in this program. Honorable Prof. D.K. Moure, Director, Distance Learning and Online Education Centre, Shivaji University, Kolhapur was the chief attendee in this program, and Deputy Registrar of Distance Learning and Online Learning Centre, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Hon’ble Mr. V.B. Shinde ji were present.
At the beginning of the program, Dr. K.B. Patil, Coordinator of Distance Learning and Online Teaching Center, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, formally welcomed and greeted all the guests, research scholars and students. Thereafter, Dr. S.Y. Chopra, Coordinator of Distance Learning and Online Teaching Center, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, introduced the keynote speaker, Mr. Yashpaul Nirmal, in detail. He said that Yashpaul Nirmal has published about 80 books in various genres and languages so far. He has received the 2014 Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi Award in the field of translation. Apart from this, Yashpaul Nirmal has numerous honour’s and awards to his name.
Yashpaul Nirmal said in his lecture, translation plays an important role in the knowledge of art, culture, research, yoga, science. Hence, it can be seen that the importance of translation is increasing in today’s time. Hindi translation has special importance in world culture. The demand for translation of popular literature is increasing. He said that there are immense employment opportunities in the field of translation in the official language Hindi. Most of the government offices require official language translators and language officers. There are numerous institutions like Central Hindi Directorate, New Delhi Technological Terminology Commission, Niti Aayog, Central Language Institute Mysore, Sahitya Akademi, State Literature and Language Academies, Central Translation Bureau, National Translation Mission, NCERT etc. which are working on translation and providing ample employment opportunities in the field of translation.
Along with this, there are immense employment opportunities for translators in multinational companies, media institutions and entertainment industry.
