SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 13: General Observer for Srinagar, Rajan Vishal today visited Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) and Media Centre Srinagar, operating from DC office Complex, here and oversaw their functioning.
The General Observer stressed that Social media is the new and never ending domain, and the need is to lay equal focus on it and not miss any issue that may have serious consequences. He also emphasized to remain on-board across all social media platforms for wider monitoring.
During the visit, the Observer checked the duty roaster, weekly google sheet submitted for suspected and confirmed cases of paid news and daily reports of various forms of media.
The Nodal Officer MCMC briefed the Observer regarding the overall functioning of the Committee. He informed that separate teams are on the job to monitor all forms of media to flag the paid news, advertisements, misinformation and disinformation.
He also apprised about mechanism put in place for hassle free pre-certification of political advertisements across various media platforms, including print, TV, radio, etc.
In addition to monitoring advertisements, he informed that real-time election-related information to the public, media and other stakeholders is being provided round the clock to ensure that all developments during the election process are effectively communicated.
The General Observer was accompanied by ADC Srinagar, Khalid Hussain and other Officers and officials.
