Kupwara, Sep 7:
To enhance voters education and participation, a mega Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme was organised at Government Higher Secondary School Liderwan Trehgam here today. The initiative, spearheaded by District Election Officer Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan was meticulously planned to galvanize the electorate ahead of General Assembly Elections 2024 scheduled for six Assembly constituencies (ACs)of Kupwara district on October 1 under phase 3rd.
The event was graced by Expenditure Observer for Kupwara district, Ms. Gargi Umrao.
On the occasion, the Expenditure Observer inaugurated a plantation drive and planted different plant saplings in an innovative and environmentally conscious initiative to help instil a sense of civic responsibility and symbolise growth, development, and long-term positive impact.
Expenditure observer along with DEO Kupwara and other participants, participated in the national anthem singing and voter Pledge during the SVEEP programme which strengthened the sense of national duty and civic responsibility among participants and added a patriotic dimension to the event, reinforcing the message that voting is not just a right but a responsibility toward the nation.

The programme also included a series of enlightening talks by prominent figures, including Expenditure Observer, who delved deep into fundamental rights and duties of voters. Emphasizing on the transformative power of informed voting, the discussions aimed to educate the audience about impact of their electoral choices on the governance and future development of their community. These talks were instrumental in clarifying the electoral process and underscoring the importance of every single vote.
DEO Kupwara in her address, provided a detailed overview of the district administration’s strategic initiatives aimed at maximizing voter outreach. She outlined a comprehensive plan of action that encompasses a range of activities designed to educate and motivate various segments of the population. Special focus was placed on inclusive measures that cater to the needs of first time voters, women, elderly and specially abled, ensuring that these groups are actively encouraged to participate in electoral process.
The mega SVEEP programme witnessed substantial participation from district officers, young voters and other members of the community, reflecting a robust engagement with the democratic process.

Cultural performance and voting skit presented by students encapsulated the spirit and message of the right to franchise serving as a melodic reminder of the power and significance of their vote.

On the occasion, District Election Officer (DEO ) Kupwara reiterated that  district administration is committed to ensure free and fair elections.
The DEO emphasized on the importance of each vote and urged the public to actively participate in the democratic process.

The event, among others, was attended by CEO Kupwara, Abdul Majeed, ZEO concerned, Principal of Higher Secondary School, students and other concerned officers and officials.
