Conduct inspection, review functioning of SST check points; direct to enhance strict vigil at district boundaries
SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 01: The District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian, Anayat Ali Choudhary today conducted an evening tour of Keegam and Keller areas of the district and inspected SST nakas there in order to check and undertake a thorough inspection of their functioning.
The DEO and SSP met the staff stationed there and checked their daily activities reports and assessed the mechanism of Checking of vehicles.
The visit was undertaken to oversee their working as per the ECI guidelines on the subject for ensuring inducement and corruption free elections, which are scheduled on 18 September, this month.
The DEO directed the teams to strictly adhere to the Election Commission’s guidelines, emphasizing the need to curb illegal transactions by maintaining strict watch at all entry points of the district, ensuring that no illegal activities compromise the electoral process.
Six Static Surveillance Teams have been stationed at the arterial roads and boundaries of the district, connecting with bordering districts where the teams keep watch on movement of illegal liquor, items of bribe or large amounts of cash, arms and ammunition and also movement of anti Social elements in their areas. The entire process of movement and seizures are videographed under the supervision of Magistrate.
