DODA, AUGUST 20: District Election Officer (DEO) of Doda Harvinder Singh today chaired a crucial review meeting in the Mini Conference Hall of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Doda. The meeting primarily focused on assessment of the preparedness for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Elections 2024. The review covered vital aspects such as the readiness of polling staff, security arrangements, and coordination among various departments.
Additional District Development Commissioner (Nodal Officer, MCC) Pran Singh; Additional Deputy Commissioner (Nodal Officer, Law and Order) Sudershan Kumar; Returning Officers (ROs), Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) of Thathri and Gandoh, Election Nodal Officers and Tehsildars attended the meeting. The officers were instructed to present updated reports on their election-related duties to ensure a comprehensive review and identification of any gaps in the current preparations.
The discussions also addressed potential challenges in remote and sensitive areas, with directions given to ensure the smooth conduct of elections. Emphasis was placed on strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and guidelines from the Election Commission of India. Additionally, the DEO reviewed the operation of media cells, the removal of political posters from government buildings, the arrangement of wheelchairs for physically challenged voters, and the establishment of dummy polling stations.
This meeting highlights the DEO’s commitment to meticulously planning all logistical and operational aspects to ensure a fair and peaceful election process. The discussions served as a platform for fine-tuning strategies and measures necessary for the successful conduct of the elections in Doda.
